This illustration could depict one of the most famous MGs - or at least one of the most famous owners!

It's an MGC GT given to Prince Charles (now Kind Charles III) by his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.  As you’d expect, this was probably the best built MGC ever as it was going to be used by the future King.  Modifications included wire wheels, heated rear screen, electric aerial and, almost unheard of in 1968, a car phone. It was specially prepared by MG at Abingdon, and was displayed at Sandringham in 2022 as part of the Jubilee celebrations. One interesting story is that it was rumoured that they produced two identical vehicles in case one was damaged.  As it happened, one of them was damaged by an errant fork lift truck!

Many have described the MGC as one of the most controversial sports cars ever produced in Abingdon. Originally designed to replace sales of the Austin Healey 3000, a 3 litre engine was shoehorned into the standard MGB bodyshell. This required major modifications to the engine bay and the front suspension was modified to incorporate torsion bars rather than the MGB’s coil springs.

An ideal gift or a treat for yourself, or any MG enthusiast, perfect for the office, living room, den or garage!
