The Mini was arguably the most influential British car of the 20th century. Designed by Sir Alec Issigonis and launched in 1959, the mini was in production for over 40 years. In the wake of the Suez crisis in 1956, the market for German bubble cars increased dramatically but Leonard Lord, the head of the British Motor Corporation, hated them so much he laid down the basic specification for the Mini. From being a small shopping trolley type of car, the mini became the choice of celebrities all over the world, and its popularity in the classic car world remains to this day.
This illustration shows the 1992 Limited Edition Mini “British Open Classic”. The car featured a 1275cc engine, extended wheel arches, a full length electric sunroof and tweed and leather upholstery.
An ideal gift or a treat for yourself, or any Mini enthusiast, perfect for the office, living room, den or garage!
